Window company web design: turning visits into quotes

Replacement windows are not an emergency purchase. Homeowners research for weeks, compare several companies and often visit a website more than once before they ask for a quote. That changes what good window company web design looks like. The site still needs a visible phone number, but its main job is to answer questions well enough that the homeowner books a consultation with you instead of the next company on their list.

This guide is for owners of window replacement and installation companies. It covers the pages a window company website needs, what homeowners look for while they compare, and how to set up a quote request that people actually complete.

The short answer

  • Pages for each window type and material you install.
  • Clear, honest information about energy efficiency.
  • A page that walks through your installation process.
  • Warranty details in plain language.
  • A gallery of real installations, labelled by town.
  • A short quote or consultation form, plus a visible phone number.
  • Location pages for the areas you serve.

Product pages that answer comparison questions

Homeowners compare window styles and materials before they compare companies. Give each main option its own page:

  • Styles: double-hung, casement, sliding, awning, picture, bay and bow windows.
  • Materials: vinyl, fibreglass, wood and composite frames.
  • Brands you install, if you are an authorised dealer.

On each page, explain where that option works well, where it does not, how it is maintained, and what affects the price. Honest trade-offs build more trust than a page that says every product is the best.

Energy efficiency without the hype

Lower energy bills are one of the most common reasons people replace windows. Explain the features that matter, such as double or triple glazing, low-E coatings and gas fills, in plain words. If the products you install carry ENERGY STAR certification, say so and name the products.

Avoid promising a specific percentage off energy bills unless you can show where the figure comes from. Savings depend on the home, the climate and the windows being replaced.

Show the installation process

People worry about what installation day looks like. Will the house be open to the weather? How much mess will there be? How long does it take? A process page answers that:

  1. Consultation and measuring.
  2. Quote and product choice.
  3. Ordering and the typical lead time.
  4. Installation day: removal, fitting, sealing and cleanup.
  5. Final inspection and warranty paperwork.

Use your own timings and photos. A short video of a real installation works well here if you have one.

Warranty details in plain language

Window warranties often have two parts: the manufacturer’s warranty on the product and your own warranty on the installation. Explain both, what they cover and how a customer makes a claim. Clear warranty information is something homeowners compare between companies.

A gallery that sells

Before and after photos of real homes are the most persuasive content a window company can have. Label each project with the town, the window style and the material. That helps homeowners find a project similar to their own, and it adds local relevance to your pages.

A quote form people finish

Keep the first step short: name, phone or email, town or zip code, roughly how many windows, and an optional photo upload. You can gather everything else during the consultation. A long form with measurements and frame types puts people off before they have spoken to you.

If you offer financing, say so on the quote page and the product pages, with the real terms or a link to them. Do not mention financing you do not offer.

Local pages for the areas you serve

Local results depend mainly on relevance, distance and prominence (Tips to improve your local ranking on Google). A page for each main town you work in, with installations completed there and reviews from local customers, helps you show up across your service area. Google’s spam policies warn against near-identical city pages (doorway abuse), so give each page real local content. My own service area pages show how I write them for trades businesses.

Technical basics

  • Galleries make window websites heavy. Compress images so pages meet Google’s Core Web Vitals targets: a main content load within 2.5 seconds, a tap response within 200 milliseconds and a layout shift score of 0.1 or less (web.dev).
  • Add LocalBusiness schema markup with your name, address and phone number (Google documentation).
  • Give each page a unique title and meta description.
  • Connect Google Search Console to see what people search for before they find you.

Frequently asked questions

Should a window company show prices on its website?

Exact prices are difficult because every home is different. Many homeowners appreciate a guide to what affects the price, such as window size, style, material and how many windows are replaced at once. If you are comfortable giving typical starting prices, they can filter out people who are not a fit.

How many pages does a window company website need?

A homepage, a page for each main window style and material, an installation process page, a warranty page, a gallery, location pages for your main areas, an about page and a contact page. A company offering 5 styles and 3 materials across 4 towns would need around 18 pages.

How much does a window company website cost?

My Starter build is $800 for up to 5 pages in 7 days, and the Business build is $1,400 for up to 10 pages with a custom design and SEO setup in 14 days. Window companies with product, gallery and location pages usually need more, so I quote those per project.
